Rates
Nichi Bei Weekly Obituary Rates are 10¢ per character, excluding spaces. There is a $3 processing fee (per insertion). Handwritten obituaries are 15¢ per character plus a $3 processing fee (per insertion). A photo can be included for an additional $10.
Deadlines
Obituary requests must be made before noon on the Friday before publication (the Nichi Bei Weekly publishes weekly every Thursday). Requests made after this deadline may be postponed until the next week.
Confirmation
You should receive confirmation of submission by phone or email by the end of day Friday, before publication. Please call our office at (415) 673-1009 if you do not receive confirmation.
Final Approval
All obituaries require approval by the requester to make sure they are accurate. Obituaries will not be printed without final approval unless otherwise specified. This must be received by 5 p.m. on the Monday before publication.
Photos
- Digital photos can be e-mailed as attachments. Use either JPG or TIFF formats. These should be at least 2 inches wide by 3 inches tall, with a resolution of 200 ppi or more.
- Hard copy photos can be mailed to the Nichi Bei or dropped off at the office to be scanned.
E-mail Instructions
1. Place the deceased person’s name and the words “Obituary Request” in the e-mail subject line.
2. Include your information in the body of your e-mail:
• Full name
• Billing Address
• Contact telephone number
• Publication date or dates that you would like to have obituary printed.
3. Send obituary text within the e-mail and not as an attachments. Designate where the obituary text copy begins and ends.
4. Send photos as attachments in either JPG or TIFF formats. These should be at least 2 inches wide by 3 inches tall, with a resolution of 200 ppsi or more.
5. Send the e-mail to ads@nichibeiweekly.org
