BERKELEY — The Berkeley Buddhist Temple will hold its 62nd annual Satsuki Bazaar and Arts Festival on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 at 2121 Channing Way. The annual fundraiser will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. May 21, and noon to 7 p.m. May 22.
June Kuramoto and Kimo Cornwell of the iconic jazz group Hiroshima and taiko master Kenny Endo will headline the entertainment. Okinawan dance group Miyagi Ryu Okinawan Dance with special guest Wesley Ueunten will also perform.
The bazaar will feature a variety of food, including: sushi, udon, Japanese curry rice, teriyaki rib-eye steak, kalua pork, shave ice, Spam musubi, loco moco, hamburgers and portobello mushroom burgers. The festivities will include: arts and crafts, games and a silent auction.
The temple is located five blocks south of the downtown Berkeley BART station. Parking is available at the nearby Brower Center lot on Kittridge Street between Oxford Street and Shattuck Avenue and the UC Berkeley lot at Bancroft Avenue, Fulton Street and Durant Avenue.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Berkeley Food and Housing Project, which provides emergency food and shelter, housing and housing placement to homeless individuals and families.
