LETTERS: Nikkei ‘enduring’ life in Louisiana

|

Note: This letter was sent in response to the article entitled “The astonishing history of Japanese Americans in Louisiana,” which ran in two parts in November.

Dear Editor,

I was sent copies of the Nichi Bei Weekly, dated Nov. 3-9, part 1 and Nov. 10-16, 2011, part 2, to our Gardens in Louisiana.

I really enjoyed your article of the history of Japanese Americans in Louisiana.

There are so few Japanese Americans in Louisiana that they could be easily fit in one small room. Myself and my wife are the only Imaharas in Louisiana, but we have endured in the Garden Center and Landscape business in Baton Rouge.

We recently started the Imahara’s Botanical Gardens in St. Francisville, about one hour north of Baton Rouge.

I’m sending by e-mail an article in the Sunday Advocate, Dec. 6, 2011.
