Editor’s Note: Evolving with the times

As noted in our last edition, dated April 19, 2012, the Nichi Bei Weekly is going through an evolution, necessitated by the economic downturn and its impact on advertising and sponsorships. This marks the first edition in our new bi-weekly format.

While we are publishing less frequently, we are confident that the time in between issues will not only allow us to publish stronger editions — with expanded pages and more original reporting — but it will also provide us the time to better build our foundation.

We are confident that this additional time will allow us to better adhere to our mission of keeping the community connected, informed and empowered while documenting our community’s history and supporting other community organizations.

We are humbled by the community’s understanding and support during these trying times, as we strive to evolve not only as a community-based resource but also as an educational foundation. We look to further collaborate with other community-based organizations as we move forward.

Building a new nonprofit from the ground up in the worst of economic times was never going to be easy, but the faith and support instilled in us by this community — and especially you, our readers — has indeed been both humbling and inspiring. We look forward to your continued support as we move forward.

In the meantime, any and all financial support would be deeply appreciated.

Sincerely,

Kenji G. Taguma
