FUJIMOTO, TOM YUKITAKE, 87, passed suddenly at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif. on Feb. 11, 2013. Preceded in death by his wife, Amie; parents, Tohei & Kayo Fujimoto; and brothers, George & Frank. He is survived by son, Michael (Donna); daughters, Susan (Terry) Young & Lori (Rick) Kurosaka; granddaughter, Stephanie; two sisters, Stella Otsuka (Westminster, Calif.) & Teruko Uyeda (San Jose, Calif.); many in-laws, nieces & nephews.

Prior to his senior year in high school, Tom’s family was incarcerated at Tule Lake Internment Camp. After finishing high school in camp, Tom volunteered for the highly decorated U.S. Army’s 442nd unit, and recruited to the Military Intelligence Service. In 2011, Tom was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in Washington, D.C. along with his fellow 442nd/100th/552nd veterans. Tom retired from the state of California Department of Water Resources after 41 years.

Memorial services were held at Sacramento Buddhist Church.
