OBITUARY: JOHN Y. KONNO

KONNO, JOHN Y., 90, born June 9, 1923, in San Francisco, John passed away quietly Sept. 14 at his home in San Jose. John grew up in Central California, but, as a Japanese American, was interned during WWII with his family at Amache (Granada), Colo. After he returned to California, he studied agriculture at UC Davis and began farming. He moved to San Jose in 1963 to become plant superintendent at Naturipe Berry Growers, a position he held for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, travelling, and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his children John Jr., Vicki Aleksoski (Zoran), Curtis; his grandchildren Sean, Justin, Shane and Niav.
