(Bay City News Service) — A woman has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter for allegedly causing a crash that killed a 16-year-old boy in San Francisco’s Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood on the morning of Sept. 27, police said Sept. 30
Jennie Zhu, 58, was arrested and booked on the manslaughter charge and two traffic infractions related to the crash, which happened at about 6:55 a.m. on Sept. 27 at Pine and Gough streets, according to police.

Zhu was released Sept. 28 after posting $300,200 bail, sheriff’s spokeswoman Susan Fahey said.

Zhu allegedly drove recklessly and went through multiple stoplights before she rear-ended a minivan occupied by a mother and her teenage son and daughter, fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The teen killed has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as Kevin San, a student at Lincoln High School. His mother and sister were critically injured in the crash.
Lincoln High principal Barnaby Payne posted a message on the school’s Website over the weekend saying grief counselors will be available on campus.

Payne said the main floor display case will be devoted to honoring San this week, and there will also be a sympathy poster set up to allow students to share thoughts and well wishes for his family.
