ITAYA, SHIZUKO HARA, 89, passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Francis, children Francis Jr. (Paula), Adrian, Teresa (Randy Peshon), Valerie (Roger Rynda) and four grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Michiko Kawaguchi of Woodbridgeand Sadame Kojimoto of San Francisco.
Born on Aug. 14, 1924, she was born and raised in San Francisco attending local schools with her three sisters. She was interned at Topaz Utah during World War II where she met her husband and attended Brigham Young University before returning to the Bay Area after the war. She and Francis raised their family in Los Altos, Calif. for forty years and she worked at Stanford University in the Procurement Department of the Commissary. Upon retirement, she and her husband lived in Pollock Pines, Calif. enjoying the peace and quiet of the Sierra.
