On behalf of the board and staff of the Nichi Bei Foundation, we are pleased to announce that we have finally received our own 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the IRS. This means that we can now receive contribution checks made out to the “Nichi Bei Foundation,” and not to a fiscal sponsor, which typically costs us 7 percent in fees.

This milestone comes just over a month before the fifth anniversary of the Nichi Bei Foundation (July 27), and three months before the fifth anniversary of the first edition of the Nichi Bei Weekly (Sept. 17).

We thank you for your continued support, without which we could have never launched the first nonprofit ethnic newspaper of its kind in the country. We hope that you could join us as we embark on a renewed fundraising effort to mark these landmark anniversaries.
