NAGATA, TOM TOKIHARU, 88, passed away on August 15, 2014 at St. Agnes Medical Center, Fresno. One-time mayor of the City of Fowler, California, he is survived by Jane, his wife of 60 years, sons Brian and Kevin, and daughter Colleen (Jay) Alvarez, three grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Helen Tani and Bonchi Nagata and many relatives both in the USA and Japan. Nagata spent his career at Caltrans and then came out of retirement to spend several more years working for FEMA. Nagata was elected Mayor of the City of Fowler in the 1970’s and served again on the Fowler City Council again from 2004-2007. He was long active in community and Buddhist church activities, Nagata was a 442nd Veteran, “F” Company. Memorial services were held at the Buddhist Church of Fowler on Saturday, Aug. 30.
