KANEKO, SACHI, 97, died peacefully in her sleep in San Francisco, California on September 10, 2014. She was born in Colusa, California on February 2, 1917, the sixth of seven children to Kamejiro and Fujio Yasukochi. The family moved to San Francisco when Sachi was a child. She attended public schools in the city and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. During the relocation of Japanese-Americans from the west coast in the 1940s she moved to New York City where she started her career as a dietician. She later lived in New Jersey and then in Colorado, but she always considered San Francisco her home and moved back there in 1986. Predeceased by her first husband, Sutemi Murayama, and her second husband, George Mitsuo Kaneko, she is survived by daughter Mari Murayama of Elizabeth, Colorado, stepdaughter Caroline Kamiyama of Arlington, Massachusetts, and stepson Darryl Kaneko of Tokyo, Japan.
