Aoki inks 1-year, $4.7 million deal with Giants

LOS ANGELES (Kyodo) — The San Francisco Giants said Jan. 19 they have signed outfielder Norichika Aoki to a one-year contract in which he will be guaranteed $4.7 million.

The 33-year-old Aoki played last season with Kansas City, which lost the World Series to the Giants in seven games. San Francisco has won world championships in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Aoki, who was traded from Milwaukee after two seasons with the Brewers, has a .287 batting average with 67 stolen bases over three years in the major leagues.

Last season, he hit .285 with a home run, six triples, 22 doubles and 43 RBIs to help lead his team to its first postseason in 29 years.
