TSUSHIMA, SHIGEMI, 96, passed away peacefully on May 6 in Stockton. Predeceased by parents Kasaku & Itsuyo Kubo, brothers Yosh and Shizuma Kubo of Turlock, and beloved husband Harry. Born September 5, 1918 in San Juan Bautista, CA. The family moved to farm in Cortez. They were sent to Amache Relocation Center, CO. She married Harry Y. Tsushima in 1943 and moved to Rowher, AR. After camps closed, they moved to Seabrook, NJ, then Chicago. They returned to harvest crops at Mandeville Island. Eventually, they returned to the family farm in the Barnhart Tract of Stockton (now known as Brookside) raising tomatoes, onions, and asparagus. She is survived by sisters Masae (Kinichi dec) Okuno of Los Altos, Haruko (Francis) Kawahara of Fremont, and May (Satoru) Uyekubo of Modesto, brothers-in-law George (Sumiye) Tsushima of Elk Grove, Bill Yoko of Fremont, sister-in-law Toshiko Kubo of Turlock, nephew Dr. Ronald (Michiko) Oye of Lodi, and numerous other nieces and nephews. A private service was held.
