MONTEREY, Calif. — Detectives with the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team launched a prostitution sting at a Monterey massage parlor on Sept. 24, which led to the arrest of one woman.
According to the team, five detectives commenced the sting operation at Classic Massage at 1 p.m., located in Unit C of 950 Cass St.
Prior to the sting, detectives had received multiple complaints from surrounding businesses, according to Acting Commander Michael Bruno.
Detectives conducted an investigation in which an undercover officer was propositioned for sex for money by an employee of the massage parlor, Bruno said.
Detectives arrested the 36-year-old woman, San Tee, of New York, for charges of prostitution, team officials said.
Detectives are also investigating possible human trafficking in this case.
“What we’re seeing is that there is a bigger picture of a group moving predominantly Asian women from business to business from the L.A. area,” Bruno said. “The person arrested had a New York address but came from the L.A. area.”
Classic Massage was a massage parlor located in a business area mostly occupied by doctors’ offices and appeared fairly new, Bruno said.
The Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team is asking anyone with information about Classic Massage or any other businesses that are engaging in prostitution or human trafficking to contact their detectives at (831) 646-6926. Anonymous tips may be submitted at (831) 646-3840.
