McCROSKEY, ASAKO, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2016. Asako was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter Susan Sturdevant of Portland, Oregon and her sister Kinko Sakamoto of San Francisco, California. Asako was a graduate of Kumagaya Women’s Senior High School, 1952, Tokyo Bunka Fashion College, 1954 and earned a Master’s degree in flower arrangement from Ohara Ryu in Tokyo, 1960. Asako was known for her generosity and the desire to help anyone that had the pleasure of being in her life. Beauty is a word that defined Asako inside and out. She lived her life as an artist, whether it was her defining style and beauty, her many hobbies, or her way of helping people, Asako sought to bring out beauty in everything that she did. Memorial services will be held on October 1st, 2016, 11 AM at the Buddhist Temple of Alameda; 2325 Pacific Ave., Alameda, CA 94501.
