YAMAMOTO, TAKEO, 94, a longtime San Francisco resident, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016. He will be remembered for working tirelessly for the betterment of his family and the Japanese community.
Born in San Francisco, California on March 8, 1922, Takeo was the 3rd and youngest child of Usasuke and Yumeyo Yamamoto. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Business. His family was interned at Topaz, UT during WWII. Takeo was very involved with the Buddhist Church of San Francisco where he held several board positions. He owned a small business, Taiyo Trading Company, for a short time and then began his 30 year career with Marubeni Corporation. Takeo took great pleasure in fishing in the Bay Area and enjoyed traveling after retirement.
He was preceded in death by 2 wives Mory Taniguchi and Yasuko Sugiyama. And is survived by his children Coleen (Gary) Matsuno, Scott (Julie) Yamamoto, Joan (Josh) Oen; and grandchildren Brian (Trinity) Matsuno and Mark Matsuno.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Buddhist Church of San Francisco, 1881 Pine St., San Francisco, California.
