McCLENDON, TANEKO OISHI, 89, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 14th, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joe M. McClendon, in 2004 and by her son, George, in 1967. She is survived by sons, James and Charles and will be greatly missed by her 2 grandchildren, Ashley & Joseph and 6 great grandchildren.

Born in Kyoto, Japan on October 28, 1927, she came to the US in 1953 and raised her family in San Francisco. She worked at the Westin Miyako Hotel for many years after its opening in 1970. She was active in bowling leagues, played golf & tennis and was an avid walker of the streets of San Francisco. She enjoyed learning and later performing Shigin (chanted Japanese poetry recital) and was also known to enjoy an occasional game of Blackjack or Keno.

Memorial services for Tane-chan, our mama-san, will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at noon at the San Francisco Columbarium, 1 Lorraine Court, San Francisco, California.
