HAYWARD, Calif. — A man who was fatally stabbed in Hayward in early February was identified by police Feb. 22 as 32-year-old Hok Yiu Wong, who police said had prior residences in Fremont and Milpitas.

Authorities said police and Alameda County coroner’s officials have been unable to locate Wong’s next of kin.

Hayward police said Wong was stabbed shortly after noon on Feb. 7 at Addison Way and Industrial Parkway SW but they haven’t determined why he was stabbed or whether he was in his car when it happened.

Wong was able to drive away from the scene but crashed into another car at about 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 7 near the McDonald’s restaurant at 30147 Industrial Parkway SW.

Wong was taken to a hospital but died there. The other driver in the crash was not injured. Police said today that Wong’s cause of death was the stabbing wounds he suffered.

Police say they only have a vague description of the suspect in the case, which is that he was an Asian male, possibly Filipino, and was driving a dark-colored vehicle.

Hayward police said anyone with information about the case should call Detective Eric Mulhern at (510) 293-7034 or e-mail information to HaywardPDTips@hayward-ca.gov.
