Gerald Haruo Hayashida

HAYASHIDA, GERALD HARUO, 71, of Reno, NV passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Gerald was born in Detroit, MI on August 20, 1945 to John and Harriet Hayashida. At an early age they relocated to the E. Bay where Gerald attended school in Berkeley and also lived in Oakland. Gerald participated in basketball in his early years. He then had the privilege of coaching his son Scott in the same sport throughout Scott’s teenage years. An avid gambler, he was well known at the Grand Sierra Resort (formerly the Hilton) in Reno. He was a retired member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #104. He is survived by his children Connie and Scott (Amara) Hayashida.

2 Granddaughters, Kristen and Nicole Hayashida. 2 sisters, Gail Chin and Lois (Ray) Tsang. 2 nieces; Kristina Cordero and Dee Tsang. Funeral services were held April 5 at Sunset View Mortuary, 101 Colusa Ave., El Cerrito, CA. Mr. Hayashida’s cremated remains were interred at The Sunset View Cemetery.
