Join the Nichi Bei Foundation at our second annual Nichi Bei Day of Giving!
The Nichi Bei Day of Giving is a fundraising drive designed to raise critically-needed funds to expand our capacity to support our dedicated and hard-working staff, help to create a Reserve Fund to address future unexpected expenses and financial challenges, and build a legacy for the future.
Help us reach our goal of raising $50,000!
While contributions can also be made in advance at www.nichibei.org/give2nichibei, the Nichi Bei Day of Giving event on Sept. 3 will feature:
At our Nichi Bei Day of Giving program on Monday, Sept. 3 (Labor Day) at the Konko Church of San Francisco (1755 Laguna St.), we will have a four-hour event from 2 to 6 p.m. featuring:
Throughout the Day of Giving Event:
2 to 6 p.m.: Giving Stations for people to donate or drop off checks to
2 to 6 p.m.: Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) by Rev. Masato Kawahatsu (get your name or saying in kanji!)
2 to 5 p.m.: FREE digital headshots for donors, by photographer William Lee
2 to 5 p.m.: Paper crane folding to support Asian Health Services immigrant deportation support project
Program Schedule:
2 p.m.: Greetings + Hourly raffle for those who donate
2:10 p.m.: Entertainment: Sushi Cal Band, with Wesley Ueunten on Okinawan sanshin
3 p.m.: Hourly raffle for those who donate
3:10 p.m.: Talk “Getting Started on Family History Research,” with Q&A by Linda Harms Okazaki, California Genealogical Society
4 p.m.: Hourly raffle for those who donate
4:10 p.m.: Learn about upcoming events, such as Nikkei Angel Island Pilgrimage on Oct. 13, 2018
4:15 p.m.: Entertainment: Francis Wong (saxophone)
5 p.m.: Hourly raffle for those who donate
5:10 p.m.: Entertainment (TBD)
5:30 p.m.: Final Raffle
The grand prizes of the raffle, for those who contribute $250 or more, will be donated by our two newest board members:
- Two-Hour Estate Planning Session with Laurie Shigekuni, Estate Planning Attorney ($650 value)
- Two-Hour Family History Consultation with Linda Harms Okazaki, genealogist ($150 value)
