IHARA, TETSUO “TETS,” 93, born on April 15, 1924 of San Francisco passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends on the morning of December 18, 2017. Tets was the second of ten siblings, all native born San Franciscans. Tets began working for the U.S. government while interned at Topaz and continued working for Letterman Army Medical Center (LAMC) in the Presidio, serving his country for 35 years and eventually reaching the designation of Chief Procurement Officer at his retirement.
Tets was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his brother, Phillip Ihara (Sharon Ihara), Sister-in-Law, Kazue Ihara, and three nieces: Patricia Ihara, Kimiye Karageorge (Adam Karageorge), and Marie Ihara.
In accordance with Tets’ wishes, a private ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please donate to the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California or the ASPCA.
