KAWAGUCHI, MASARU “MASâ€, 92, born Nov. 6, 1925, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018. Beloved husband of Ida and loving father of sons Todd (Kate), Jeffrey (Pam), and daughter Mari. Mas adored his two grandsons, Tyler and Bryce. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ida, and his six brothers and sisters. He was a loving grandpa and great grandpa to step children and grandchildren. Uncle Mas was a favorite to many nephews and nieces.
Mas honorably served on active duty in the United States Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Graduating from University of Michigan, Engineering, Mas worked as a registered Civil Engineer for the State of California, Department of Transportation (now Caltrans). Mas was active in community activities including Chairperson, Taraval Police Community Forum; President, Parkside District Improvement Club; Cubmaster and Scoutmaster Troop 12 and Member of VFW, ASCE and SF Gem & Mineral Society.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 16th at 11:30 am at Pine United Methodist Church, 426 33rd Avenue San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kawaguchi Endowment Fund at Pine UMC, JCCCNC in San Francisco, or the Topaz Museum in Delta, Utah in his memory.
