ENDO, CHIEKO USHIGUSA, 83, of Richmond, CA, and a longstanding member of Sycamore Congregational Church, passed away on December 19, 2018, after complications from a severe head injury. Chieko was born September 7, 1935, to Tsunejiro and Yaeko (Maeda) Ushigusa in Kobe, Japan. She grew up as a child in the midst of WWII and later married Katsumi Endo, eventually moving to Richmond where she raised three children and supported her husband in their carnation growing business. Later in life, Chieko worked as a preschool teacher at Sycamore and enjoyed time with her family and friends in the Japanese community.

Chieko is survived by her daughter, Christine Aptaker (Richard) of El Cerrito, her son; Mark (Lori) of Richmond; and her grandchildren David and Rebecca Aptaker, Kaitlyn and Michael Endo. She is preceded in death by her husband Katsumi (2001), and her eldest son Dennis (1983).
