Kimiyo Shironaka

SHIRONAKA (MATSUSHITA), KIMIYO was born in Mills, CA to Iwagoro and Hisaye Matsushita. Her early years were spent in Sacramento, CA and later farming in Rumsey and eventually Winters, CA which she always considered her home.
She was married in Syracuse, KS to Ted Shironaka (1964) after getting a day pass from the Amache Relocation camp in Granada, CO. Kim resettled in Chicago, IL raising a family, Michael (2008) and Timothy. Kim eventually returned to Sacramento, CA in 1964, working at Marie Calendar’s as a cook after 30 years. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and singing Japanese “enka”, as she was known for her beautiful voice. She is survived by her son Tim (Wanda), 4 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter.
A Buddhist memorial service will be held at Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, February 29th at 1PM.
