George M. Okada

OKADA, GEORGE M, 91, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2020 at his home. He was the third son of Chiochi and Sono Okada. He was born and raised in San Francisco. George and his family were interned at Topaz, Utah in 1943. He was drafted into the army in 1951 during the Korean War. After the war, George attended Jr. College and worked for IBM, City & County of SF and the Federal Government. His passion was photography where he became Senator Dianne Feinstein’s photographer for many years. He led an exciting and prosperous life shared over 35 years with his long-time friend, Shizuko Turmon, who passed away in January, 2020. They were members of many clubs and loved to travel and take cruises together.
George is survived by his son Neal D. Okada, sister Mae (Frank) Ura and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Harry N. Okada, Hirotaka Okada and Katherine Y. Jofuku.
A memorial service will be held at a later date until the COVID-19 is abated.
