Japanese Americans win multiple silver medals at Tokyo games

Nyjah Huston finished in seventh place for the U.S. men’s skateboarding team July 25 at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. This was the first time the men’s street skateboarding event was offered at the Olympics.

Jay Litherland of Team United States won the silver medal in the men’s 400-meter individual medley, with a time of 4:10.28, July 25.

Erica Sullivan won silver for Team USA in the 1,500-meter freestyle July 27. This was the first time women competed in the 1,500-meter freestyle race at the Olympics.

The U.S. women’s softball team, which includes outfielder Janie Reed, took silver July 27 after losing to Team Japan 2-0.

Collin Morikawa just missed the bronze medal for Team USA’s men’s golf team Aug. 1.

Argentina eliminated the U.S. men’s volleyball team (which includes brothers Kawika Shoji and Erik Shoji) Aug. 1, sweeping them 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.

Kayla Miracle lost her match 3-2 against Long Jia of China Aug. 3 in the women’s 62kg wrestling class.

The U.S. men’s water polo team lost 12-8 to Spain in the quarterfinals Aug. 4. (Johnny Hooper plays for Team USA.)

Michael Norman advances for Team USA to compete in the men’s 400m final Aug. 5.

Sakura Kokumai (Team USA) and other karate competitors will compete Aug. 5-7.
