Kiyomi Harada

HARADA, KIYOMI passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021, at home surrounded by family. Born in Hiroshima, Japan, she moved to San Francisco in the late 1960s. She enjoyed and taught traditional Japanese arts, such as shamisen, nihon buyo and minyo in the Bay Area. She participated in the San Francisco Cherry Blossom parade from inception to the mid-1980s. She also volunteered and participated in the various Cherry Blossom events, for example, the kimono dresser for the queen pageant, minyo performances, food bazaar and many other events. She also volunteered at various Japanese cultural events and at Japanese community senior center. She loved to travel and enjoyed different genres of music, for instance, jazz, rock, pop and enka. Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Chuzo, by just two months. She is survived by her daughter, Jannet and son, Harris.
