Reiko Tanaka

TANAKA, REIKO, beloved by all who knew her, passed away on November 18, 2021 at El Camino Hospital Los Gatos with her daughter by her side. Reiko was born in Kobe, Japan on January 5, 1931. She moved to San Francisco in 1965 after marrying Frank Tanaka, a Nisei. Her only child, Ann, was born in 1966. From 1977 through 1993, Reiko was the head veil maker for I. Magnin department store in San Francisco. San Jose was her home for the past 17 years. She was involved with the Buddhist Church Choir and the Yu-Ai Kai Line Dancing Group in San Jose Japan Town.
She is survived by her daughter Ann Okamura, son-in-law Mark Okamura, Granddaughter Ellen Okamura, and Grandson John Okamura. Surviving relatives in Japan include her sister, Hiroko Kawai, brother-in-law Kaihon Kawai, Nephews: Kouichi Yoshimura and Kenji Yoshimura. Nieces: Naoko Kutumizu, Chikako Kuriyama, Shizuko Kawai, Kuniko Ishii, and Motoko Ishii.
Her memorial service was held on December 18th. Any inquiries can be directed to Willow Glen Funeral Home in San Jose.
