Tetsuo Asano

Dec. 19, 1928 – Oct. 23, 2022

ASANO, TETSUO, 93, passed away in the early morning of October 23, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fusajiro and Mitsuko Asano, brother Wakichi Asano, and sisters Fumiko Bower and Mary Osaka. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Keiko, daughter Marsha (Michael) Taam, and son Keiji Asano, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Tetsuo was born in Salinas, CA on December 19, 1928 and relocated with his family to Brighton, CO during WWII. The family returned to CA and settled in Watsonville. Tetsuo served in the US Army and was awarded the Bronze Medal for Meritorious Service in Korea. Tetsuo was a barber in SF for over 50 years, retiring when he was 86 years old. He cherished his longtime customers who helped him celebrate his retirement.

Tetsuo enjoyed fishing, watching/listening to the SF Giants games, playing the game of Go, watching western TV shows, and doing puzzles of all kinds.

A small private gathering is planned to celebrate Tetsuo’s life. The family is thankful for the care he received from Affinity Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
