UCHIYAMA, HIDEO “ARCHIE” passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 102. He was born in Milpitas, CA, first son of Fui and Aisuke and brother to James and Lumi. He was interned at Topaz, Utah, during WWII. He moved back to the Bay Area and married Yuri Kawakami and had 3 daughters. He and his partner, George Ushijima, started Growers Produce, a successful wholesale produce company in Oakland. He hosted and enjoyed playing golf with his many friends winning numerous trophies along the way. He loved his family, supporting them by attending and never missing his grandchildren’s athletic games, graduations, and weddings. Generous by nature, he was blessed in return by his many life-long friends.He is survived by his daughters, Jane Lowe, Gale Uchiyama, and Kathy Takayama and their loving families.
There will be a celebration of life for his friends and family at a later date, location TBD.
