FLETCHER, MARJORIE IMAIZUMI peacefully passed away on July 2, 2023. She was born February, 1929 in Gardena, California, where her family farmed strawberries. She attended elementary school in Gardena before the family was incarcerated at the Santa Anita Detention Center. The family later relocated to Utah. Marj worked for over 41 years as a Computer Systems Analyst, retiring as the Director of Information Systems from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Even after a full career, Marj did not to stop working. Her second career was at the Japanese Cultural Community Center of Northern California (The Center) where she was the Executive Assistant to Paul Osaki for over 30 years. Marj loved to take seniors to Reno; organize late night card games, and go to a Giant’s game every chance she could. She was an enigma: a rule-breaking Nisei with an unusual sense of humor, a lifelong volunteer to the Buddhist Church of San Francisco and the Center, a daily crossword puzzle lover, an unsentimental straight shooter, a friend to many of all generations.
She is preceded in death by her mother Mito Imaizumi, father Eiji Imaizumi, five siblings, Kenichi (Emiko), George (Mary), Yoneko (Shigeru Kiyomura), Hideo “Joe” and Florence (George Hamada).
