TANAKA, SETSUKO J. died peacefully at home on February 5, 2024. She was born in Santa Maria, California and lived her early years in the town of Guadalupe, California, before a short time in Japan and later internment in Tulare Assembly Center, Gila River, Arizona, and then Tule Lake, California, before settling in San Francisco, California.

She is the only daughter and one of four children born to parents, Sasaichi and Satsumi (Mayeda) Tanaka: Isago Isao, Terumi (Misae), Setsuko and Tomoyuki (Ruth). She is survived by her nieces and nephew: Patricia Ann, Nanayo (Robert Silver), Kimiye (Steven Touchi), Mikio (Louise To), Tsuyumi, and Chisako; three grandnieces, Hitomi, Chiemi, and Nobumi, as well as many extended family members.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 3 pm, at the Buddhist Church of San Francisco, California, 1881 Pine Street, San Francisco, CA. 94109.
