MORIMOTO, JOE passed away on March 6, at the age of 84. Born in Stockton, CA, Joe and his family navigated the challenges of being relocated during World War II, spending four years in the Tule Lake Internment Camp. Once released, they resettled in Lodi, CA, where they cultivated Tokay grapes on their farm. Despite these early
adversities, Joe’s spirit continued to be resilient. Joe was passionate about sports, cars and nature; with much amazement and respect, he loved traveling to explore various cultures and food. Some of his favorite destinations included Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, Peru, Thailand, Hawaii, as well as hitting the open road, driving with Ann and or the entire family to Alaska, Florida, and Maine.
Joe always embraced the opportunity to have a good time with family and friends, as he loved celebrating and sharing his joy and happiness at social events. Joe enjoyed a successful 5-decade career in Mechanical Engineering, although he wondered what could have been if he pursued a career in the arts, as his art teachers in high school and college suggested.
Joe’s legacy is one of resilience, love, and boundless generosity. Joe’s love for and devotion to family will be remembered. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Ann, his three children, six grandchildren, two beloved sisters, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services were held.
