The Nichi Bei Foundation Author Series — in collaboration with the National Japanese American Historical Society, J-Sei and the Nichi Bei Weekly — present the Bay Area Book Launch of “John Okada: The Life & Rediscovered Work of the Author of No-No Boy” on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at two Bay Area locations.

• Bay Area Book Launch — 12 p.m. followed by Reception
NJAHS Peace Gallery, 1684 Post St., S.F. Japantown

• East Bay Event — 4 p.m. with light refreshments
J-Sei, 1285 66th St., Emeryville, CA

Editors Frank Abe from Seattle, Wash. and Greg Robinson from Montreal, Canada will be in attendance for a book signing and to discuss the life and work of John Okada, the author of “No-No Boy” — one of the most highly regarded Japanese American novels.

“John Okada: The Life & Rediscovered Work of the Author of No-No Boy” will be on sale for a special discounted price of $25 (reg. $29.95), while the original 2014 version of “No-No Boy” the novel by John Okada will be on sale for $15. Frank Abe is a journalist and producer of the PBS documentary Conscience and the Constitution. Nichi Bei Weekly columnist Greg Robinson is professor of history at Université du Québec a Montréal whose most recent book is “The Great Unknown: Japanese American Sketches.” In addition to editors Abe, Robinson and Floyd Chueng, the book contributors are Lawson Fusao Inada, Martha Nakagawa, Stephen H. Sumida, Shawn Wong and Jeffrey T. Yamashita.
