‘One Fighting Irishman’ screening

The Japanese American National Museum will host a free screening of Sharon Yamato’s “award-winning documentary, ‘One Fighting Irishman,’ the story of attorney Wayne M. Collins and his 23-year struggle to regain American citizenship for more than 5,400 who renounced while being imprisoned at the Tule Lake Segregation Center” during World War II. The screening will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at 100 North Central Ave. in L.A.’s Little Tokyo. The event is free and open to the public. Tule Lake Pilgrimage Committee Chairman Hiroshi Shimizu, Tule Lake survivor and “Tule Lake Stockade Diary” publisher Kyoko Oda, and “We Hereby Refuse: Japanese American Resistance to Wartime Incarceration” lead author and “The Literature of Japanese American Incarceration” co-editor Frank Abe will participate in a panel discussion.
