Berkeley: “Towards Long Term Sustainability: In Response to the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster”

UC Berkeley’s Institute of East Asian Studies, 2223 Fulton St., 6th floor, Berkeley, Calif. will hold a symposium, “Towards Long Term Sustainability: In Response to the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster,” to address questions that Japan is facing after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the ongoing nuclear crisis. The symposium (1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday) features three speakers, all of whom have been actively involved in analyzing the Fukushima nuclear plant accident, its historical context and the sociopolitical actions taken by various stakeholders, will situate the causes and consequences of the disaster in the context of a long-term sustainable future.
