A one-act opera about the Japanese American incarceration, “The Sisters of Manzanar” will open in Fresno, Calif. with George Takei as keynote speaker. Tours of Pinedale and the Fresno fairgrounds, locations that served as temporary detention centers for inmates, will take place prior to the world premiere of the opera on Saturday, April 30. On Sunday, May 1, the opera will open at The Warnors Center for Performing Arts, 1400 Fulton St., Fresno, Calif.. Tickets are $30, or $45 for preferred seating and VIP reception.
