UCLA will host “Japanese and Japanese Americans: Racializations and Their Resistances,” a two-day conference Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Royce Hall 314 and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Faculty Center, California Room. Both events will be held on campus. The conference reexamines the racialization of Japanese Americans, including their resistance to oppression, from the period of the initial immigration of the Issei to the present.
