The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center in L.A. will present the first survey of Felice Beato’s photography career, which covered a wide geographic area—from the Middle East to Southeast Asia. Beato’s photography was the first glimpse for many into newly opened countries such as India, China, Japan, Korea, and Burma. One of Beato’s most important contributions was the introduction of coloring photographs. He used watercolors in place of oil pigments. For reservations, visit www.Getty.edu or call (310) 440-7300. The Museum is located at 1200 Getty Center Dr., L.A. The museum is closed on Mondays; admission to the center is free.
