The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles and UCLA Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies present a screening of “Love and Honor” (Bushi no ichibun; 2006) directed by the legendary Yoji Yamada and starring Kimutaku (Takuya Kimura) at 7 p.m. at the James Bridges Theater in UCLA’s Melnitz Hall, 1409 Melnitz, in L.A.
The film carries on traditions in blind samurai protagonists. A discussion with Ichiro Yamamoto, producer for Shochiku Studios, Nicholas Rucka, filmmaker, editor, film critic, and Jordan Smith, lecturer at UCLA and CSU Long Beach, will be held at 9 p.m.
That will be followed by a light reception at 10 p.m. Admission is free; campus parking costs $10. Info: call Yoshihiro Nihei at (213) 621-2267 ext. 109 or e-mail culture@jflalc.org.
