The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC) is inviting youth to apply for its inaugural Takahashi Youth Ambassador Fellowship Program to Japan. This new youth scholarship program, which entails a trip to Japan, is open to students in grades 8 to 11, who are interested in learning more about their Nikkei heritage, gaining valuable leadership skills, participating in their community, creating international friendships and experiencing culture firsthand through a 10-day trip to Japan from July 19-28.
Interested families and youth organization representatives can learn more at informational meetings at the JCCCNC, 1840 Sutter St. in San Francisco’s Japantown, Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or Friday, Feb. 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. RSVP for the meeting by calling (415) 567-5505.
The program is named in honor of Henri and Tomoye Takahashi.
