‘Music, Body, Memory: The magic of Dancing Obon: Dance and Talk with Nobuko Miyamoto’

Wynn Kiyama will moderate the final workshop in “Music, Body, Memory: The American Bon Odori” series, ‘The magic of Dancing Obon: Dance and Talk with Nobuko Miyamoto” from 1 to 2 p.m. at KOHO at 1675 Post. St. (2nd floor above Daiso) in SF’s Japantown

Kiyama and dancer/choreographer/Bon dance creator Nobuko Miyamoto will discuss: “What happens when we dance Obon? Where do the songs come from? How does dancing Obon connect us to our ancestors?

The National Japanese American Historical Society’s Peace Gallery at 1684 Post St. will simultaneously host the ongoing exhibit on Bon Odori from noon to 5 p.m.

Organizers recommend that people register for the free workshop.
