Saburo Mochizuki and his ensemble, Issa Mochizuki, Taku Taguchi and Yumiko Shigekusa, will present the “Art of Kabuki Music” at the Flytrap Studio, 900 East 11th St., Oakland, Calif. Friday at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) and Sunday at 3 p.m. (doors open at 2:30 p.m.). Saburo Mochizuki is an associate professor of Tokyo University of Arts, and teaches Japanese classical music (hogaku). He also promotes Japanese classical percussion (hogaku hayashi) instruments at elementary schools in San Francisco. A $20 to $30 donation is requested to cover travel costs for performers.
