The Oakland Asian Cultural Center, 388 Ninth St., Oakland, Calif., will present “Yone Noguchi in California: A Japanese Poet Among Oakland’s Famous Writers.” The exhibit, which will be on display through Jan. 31, 2012, features the early writings of Noguchi as well as the works of soshi style calligraphy of Yoko Muroga and her student Mami Nomura and ikebana by B. Stevens Strauss. There will also be a book signing by Nina Egert, curator of the exhibit and author of “Noguchi’s California: Poetic Visions of a 19th Century Dharma Bum” from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Hours: Tuesdays 1 to 5 p.m., (10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by appointment only) and Wednesdays through Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Info: (510) 637-0455, www.oacc.cc.
