Asian Improv aRts and the San Francisco State University College of Creative Arts present, as part of ImprovisAsians 2011! “The Art of Agency 3,” an encore performance of “Diaspora Tales #2: 1969.” The interdisciplinary work features music by the Francis Wong Unit, spoken word by A.K. Black, dance by Lenora Lee, and media design by Olivia Ting, and will be performed at 1 p.m. at Knuth Hall, Room 132, Creative Arts Building, at the University. “1969” is the next episode of Wong’s compositional cycle exploring and expressing his family’s experience in the diaspora. Diaspora Tale #1 recounted his parents’ journey as refugees of the Chinese civil war in 1948 from their homeland to Hong Kong and eventually to the United States. “1969” commemorates the 40th anniversary of the UC Berkeley Third World Strike for ethnic studies at UC Berkeley.
