The 25th annual Japanese Cultural Fair of Santa Cruz will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mission Plaza Park, 103 Emmett St. The free event will feature Japanese foods, arts and crafts and center stage performances. Watsonville Taiko will lead off the festivities. The Fair will also feature musical performances of the koto (ancient zither), storytelling and singing, kyogen theater and northern Japan shamisen. Bon Odori, Okinawan dance and mochi-making are among some of the event highlights. There will be a variety of demonstrations: tea ceremony, ikebana, bonsai presentation by the Watsonville Bonsai Club and martial arts. San Francisco Taiko Dojo will close the event.
