SF: “Angel Island: Immigrant Gateway to America” book talk

Erika Lee and Judy Yung, co-authors of the award-winning history book “Angel Island: Immigrant Gateway to America,” will speak at the “Angel Island Storytelling” program from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco, 750 Kearny St. # 3 in S.F. Lee and Yung will present a historical overview of the Angel Island Immigration Station. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Jewish descendants of Angel Island detainees will share immigrant stories. Charles Egan, professor of Chinese language at San Francisco State University, will introduce newly recovered Chinese, Japanese and Korean poems written by Angel Island immigrants. A reception and book signing by the authors of the book will follow the program. Program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Info: (415) 262-4429 or info@aiisf.org.
