“Atomic Mom,” a feature length documentary by M.T. Silvia, will screen at 4:15 p.m. at the University of San Francisco’s McClaren Hall 252 at 2130 Fulton St. in S.F. The filmmaker’s mother, Pauline Silvia, undergoes a crisis of conscience while serving “as the only female scientist present during atomic detonations in the Nevada desert.” Pauline Silva finally reveals grim secrets of working in the U.S. atomic testing program. In an attempt to reconcile with her own mother’s past, her daughter, M.T. Silvia meets Emiko Okada, a Hiroshima survivor trying to reconcile her own history in Japan. “Atomic Mom” aims to inspire dialogue about “human rights, personal responsibility, and the possibility — and hope — of peace.” Info: www.atomicmom.org, mtsilvia@atomicmom.org, (510) 541-0413.
