A community forum will feature the life, accomplishments, and perspectives of Samuel Ichiye (S.I.) Hayakawa. Hayakawa is the subject of a recently-published book by Gerald W. Haslam, with Janice E. Haslam. “In Thought and Action: The Enigmatic Life of S.I. Hayakawa” traces Hayakawa’s life. The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Union Bank’s Hospitality Room, located at 1675 Post St., S.F.’s Japantown. The featured speakers will include the two authors of the book. They will discuss the book and their personal knowledge of and relationship with Hayakawa. Hayakawa’s daughter, Wynne Hayakawa, will be the third featured speaker. Rita Takahashi, an SFSU professor of social work, will moderate the event. Info: (415) 567-5006.
