SF: Japantown Landmarks Signifigance Meeting

22 Feb

A workshop will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, located at 1840 Sutter St. in SF’s Japantown, to discuss the significance of declaring the Peace Pagoda and Buchanan Mall in SF’s Japantown as landmarks. Topics that will be covered include: whether these efforts to declare the Peace Pagoda and Buchanan Mall as a landmark will preserve the cultural assets indefinitely, and how such efforts will effect property owners and businesses in the surrounding areas. Property owners, business owners, residents and community members are encouraged to attend the workshop, which will be conducted by the San Francisco Architectural Heritage, a nonprofit organization. Info: contact Aya Ino at (415) 567-5505 or aino@jcccnc.org.
